I've checked how to reduce the symptoms of pollen allergy.
It seems like that the allergy relates the function of the small intestine which is controlled by parasympathetic nerve(PSN), the initiating factor of allergy (prostaglandin) will be synthesized when PSN works hard for the digestive system. Some usable sources in natural way are,
* avoid to having a big meal on dinner --- PSN predominate at night basically, it needs to work excess if one have a big dinner.
* reduce to take linoleic acid (is high in safflower, soy and corn oil) and increase to take linolenic acid (is high in kiwi, walnuts, flax seed oil)
* taking foot bath 10-15minutes when the lower body is cold --- the lower body is cold = the muscles are cold means the veins around there are cold, too. The blood cool the abdominal area when it get through the area to come back to the heart. so the PSN needs to work more to cover the function of the digestive system.
* good foods for the intestine --- fig, ginger, carrot, daikon, turnip, yam...
A lateral approach is it could be a same effect if the blood capillary is strong, mucosa of the nasal cavity might be strong, because the blood capillary is beneath of that.
* taking vitamin P (it contents in thin skin and pith = white strings of orange) to strengthen the blood capillary. Vitamin P is not water solubility, but it dissolve well in alkaline. Some of high alkalinity foods are string beans, mushroom, yam, spinach, carrot, soybeans, seaweed and banana.
Blending vitamin P + alkaline = can be expected high absorption, an easy way is making fresh juice, orange + carrot (a yang food = warms the body up in macrobiotic theory), orange + banana (a yin food = cool the body down). We might use them according to the season and body condition.

Stress Relief, Relieve Japan 2
We (some graduates of the Ohashi Institute) had this event again at the Buddhist temple of upper west side of Manhattan on the last Sunday April 24th.
http://www.newyorkbuddhistchurch.org/
The session numbers were 12, the donators must be remained anonymous by their request.
Practitioner : Mary Walsh, Tomohiko Yokoyama
The raised fund $460 will be sent to The Buddhist Church of America (BCA head quarters) of California once, then they will send it to the area of the earthquake of Japan.
I really gratitude that the New Yorkers took this charity event kindly, even though its already past one and half month after the disaster.
Sincerely,

Antagonist Muscles
![]() |
| Rhomboid(red) Lavator scapulae(blue) |
Rectus abdominis (berry muscle) <---> Elector spinae (aside of spine)
Rhomboid (the red part on the right fig.) <---> Serratus (another name is Boxer muscle, red part on the bottom fig.)
Pectoralis minor ( the blue part on the bottom fig.) <---> Lavator scapulae (it connects cervical and shoulder blade, blue part of the right fig.)

The shoulder blade will be slanted when the contraction is different between the muscle and the antagonist, then range of the motion might be changed or feels pain at a point of a movement.
It is not only important that softening the muscle tightness, be conscious about the antagonist and how to train the both muscles evenly at the gym, yoga, or in any exercises, also.

Kidneys
Hi, my name is Tomohiko Yokoyama who does Shiatsu massage at a hair salon in Manhattan, New York. This first time story of The Shiatsu Times is about Kidneys.
Many people has stress or tension on their kidneys that I have felt in the Shiatsu sessions in New York.
So what are cause of kidney's stress?...there are many reasons we might have,
* Lack of sleep
* Keep to listening sound or noise (kidneys relate ears in Chinese Medicine)
* Coldness
* Depression, Fear
* Eat the foods which take the body fluid... like Salty, Dried, Baked, Spicy, Meat, atc
* Take water too much (kidneys need to work all the time to form the urine, besides when you do exercise, physical activity, or Summer)
* Taking excess amount of caffeine
* Electromagnetic radiation
Toward the real Winter we might be careful of the organ, but how we do?
There are some signatures of overworking of the kidneys,
1. water bag of the skin below the eyes ( you know when you didn't sleep...)
2. coldness of a side of thoracic 10-12th ( sometimes get swelled and hot will be excessive work, too )
3. swelling of the lateral arch of the feet
So when you see these signs on your body, you might avoid or do less any [ * ] marks would not be only effective, enjoying the bath time or wearing black socks will help the kidney's work, also...
Orientel Medcine has taught us " Ki (energy) " comes from the Kidneys and the Liver, so please take care your Kidneys for your Winter activity!
Thank you for reading, I would mention about this organ more, See you next time.
